Verdi Green Granite
Verdi Green, best known as Verdi Ghazal, is Egypt's signature green granite: a deep green-grey ground flecked with white and black crystals. It was chosen for the main floors and Grand Staircase of the Grand Egyptian Museum. This Egyptian granite suits statement flooring, cladding, stairs and countertops, in polished or flamed finishes.

About Verdi Green
Verdi Green is the dark grade of Verdi Ghazal and the most recognisable Egyptian granite after the Aswan reds, largely because it covers the main floors and Grand Staircase of the Grand Egyptian Museum, where thick slabs were set on post-tensioned beams. The dense crystal structure takes a glassy polish, and the dark field hides wear in heavy traffic. Grades run from Light through Medium to Dark, so state the shade when ordering. It is used outdoors in flamed or bush-hammered finishes and indoors polished or honed; it contrasts well with Galala Extra. Contact us for available sizes and finishes.
Frequently asked questions
Where was Verdi Ghazal granite used?
Its best-known installation is the Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza, where Verdi Ghazal was specified for the vast museum floors and the Grand Staircase alongside Nero Aswan granite and Sinai Pearl limestone.
Is Verdi Green the same as Verdi Ghazal?
Verdi Ghazal is the family name; Verdi Green usually means the medium-to-dark green grade. Lighter and yellow grades of the same granite are sold as Light Verdi Ghazal and Verdi Yellow. Confirm the grade with a slab photo.
Does Verdi Green need sealing?
Like other dense granites it has low porosity and is easy to seal. Suppliers recommend sealing worktops for stain resistance, while flamed exterior paving is often left unsealed. It resists heat, frost and chemical attack.
