Marble Calculator: Tiles, Slabs, Weight and Containers

Work out how much marble or granite to order for a floor or wall: square metres with waste, number of tiles, weight and containers.

Your estimate

Area to order (incl. waste)
110 m² (1,184 ft²)
Number of tiles

Estimates only. Weight uses a typical density of 2.6 t/m³ and the container load you entered; actual limits depend on the stone and the destination. See how to import marble from Egypt and packing and shipping.

Frequently asked questions

How much extra marble should I order for waste?

Around 10% covers cutting and breakage on a straight-laid floor. Diagonal or herringbone patterns, small rooms with many cuts and stairs need more, and it is wise to keep a few spare pieces from the same batch for future repairs.

How heavy is marble per square metre?

Weight is area x thickness x density. With a typical density of about 2.6 t/m³ for Egyptian marble, 1 m² at 2 cm weighs roughly 52 kg and at 3 cm roughly 78 kg. Granite is slightly heavier.

How much stone fits in a 20 ft container?

Stone fills a container by weight, not volume. Shippers commonly load about 24 to 26 tonnes per 20 ft container depending on destination road limits, so the calculator uses 24 t as a conservative figure.
