Sunny Light Egyptian marble slab

Sunny Light Marble

Sunny Light is the palest grade of Egypt's Sunny family, a warm beige to soft golden stone with gentle, even veining. Quarried around Minya in Upper Egypt, this Egyptian marble (geologically a limestone) is widely used for interior flooring, wall cladding, stairs and vanity tops, and takes polished, honed, brushed and tumbled finishes well.

About Sunny Light

Sunny Light is sold as the brightest cut of the Sunny family, with Sunny Medium and Sunny Dark sitting deeper in the same bed, so a project can step through several tones from one quarry area. Because it is a sedimentary limestone rather than a true marble, it is a little softer and more absorbent than Egyptian granite, and an Egyptian limestone flooring guide recommends sealing it and resealing more often than Galala or Sinai Pearl. Honed or brushed surfaces give better grip in circulation areas than a polished face. It pairs naturally with the cream of Galala for borders and inlays. Contact us for available sizes and finishes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sunny Light marble or limestone?

Geologically it is a limestone from the Minya quarries, which the trade sells as Egyptian marble. It polishes well, but expect limestone behaviour: moderate absorption, a need for sealing, and a preference for honed finishes in busy areas.

Can Sunny Light be used outdoors?

Yes for light-use exteriors such as cladding and covered terraces, usually with a honed, tumbled or bush-hammered finish. Egyptian limestone guides place Sunny in the softer group, so it is a weaker choice than Galala or Sinai Pearl for heavy outdoor traffic.

How does Sunny Light differ from Sunny Dark?

They come from the same Minya stone family. Sunny Light has a milky, pale beige field with fine veining, while Sunny Dark is a deeper amber to tan with darker veins. Light reads calm and bright; Dark hides marks better.
